Is your panel safe?

Recently we have had a rash of calls requesting services on panels; specifically, Zinsco panels. Since we have seen so many calls involving these panels lately I thought it would be a good subject to blog about and let our customers know the dangers we have discovered about Zinsco panels.

These panels are obsolete now and have a history of being dangerous.  Any breakers that may be needed in these panels will be a struggle to find and will be much more expensive than a modern panel. The panels and breakers have many proven cases of causing fires.  The internal parts of the panels are inadequate and the breakers have a history of not tripping when there is a surge.  This causes parts to heat up and start fires.

Here are two un-bias links that can elaborate further on the hazards of these panels.

Though there has never been a recall or actual UL listing pulled, the company doesn’t exist anymore and there is a strong case for replacing them. We highly recommend changing your Zinsco panel. It will be more cost effective in the long run and less hazardous.

Even if you don’t have a Zinsco, is your panel outdated, inadequate or even dangerous? Call Poss Electric for a $60 panel inspection to get an estimate on your panel change today.
